Harborline Digital was founded in Amsterdam in 2017. We stayed small on purpose: three people, no account managers, and a direct line to whoever actually builds your website.
Our story
Harborline started when Daan, then a freelance developer, grew tired of seeing small businesses overcharged for slow, fragile websites. The idea was simple: build fewer projects, build them properly, and stay around to look after them.
Nine years later the studio has delivered more than 140 websites and small applications for Dutch and international clients — dentists, freight forwarders, cafés, recruiters and one very determined tugboat charter. Most of our revenue still comes from long-term care plans rather than one-off projects.
We work from a converted warehouse office on the Herengracht, drink too much coffee, and still answer our own email.

Design & content
Turns vague briefs into clean, readable pages. Believes every website should survive a phone screen and a slow train connection.
Support & operations
Keeps backups fresh, monitors humming and clients informed. Usually the voice on the phone.
Principles
We build on stable, well-understood tools. A website should still run — and be maintainable by someone else — in ten years.
Fast pages rank better, convert better and use less energy. We budget kilobytes the way others budget euros.
We host what we build, on servers we administer. When something breaks at 2 a.m., there is exactly one phone number to call: ours.
If a project needs an agency of forty, we will say so and help you brief one. Small only works when we stay honest.
